Transitions:
Consists of a heavy duty stainless steel transition tube which allows for the mechanical and electrical attachment of the lead wire to the metal sheathed, minerally insulated thermocouple probe. It is filled with epoxy or ceramic cement to increase the mechanical strength and provide moisture resistance to the mineral insulation of the probe. There are a variety of potting materials available, based on the application temperature at the transition area. The mechanical strength is enhanced by the addition of a stainless steel strain relief spring at the transition.
  • This style of sensors helps reduce the costs of running long lengths of the metal sheathed, minerally insulated thermocouple wire by utilizing the less expensive insulated (fiberglass, Teflon, or Kapton) thermocouple lead wire that can be used for greater distances with little effect to the thermocouple signal.
  • The standard transition is ¼” diameter X 1.2” length, standard strain relief spring is 1.0”. The overall combined length of the transition and strain relief spring is 2 ¼”. The capacity of this standard transition is generally single 20 gage solid wire, or duplex 24 gage wire depending on the type of insulation used. Consult the factory for your special requests.
  • The small or “miniature” transition is available for the smaller diameters of thermocouple probes (0.010” – 0.062”) See the “Miniature Transition Assembly” it is 0.155” diameter X 1.0”, a strain relief spring is not available for this transition. The capacity of this transition is generally limited to single, 24 gage insulated wire or duplex, 30 gage insulated wire, depending on the type of insulation used. Consult the factory for your special requests.
  • The large transition is 3/8” diameter X 1.2” length, standard strain relief spring is 1.20”. The overall combined length of the transition and strain relief spring is 2 3/8”. The capacity of this transition is generally single 16 gage stranded wire, or duplex 24 gage wire depending on the type of insulation used. Consult the factory for your special requests.
  • Other custom sized transition options are available, consult factory for your special requests.
