Style B – Basic MGO Assembly:

Thermocouple Configuration

1. Calibration
Select One: Maximum temperature limits for each ANSI type
thermocouple materials are given (see “more info” button), however these will vary
depending on sheath materials, application atmospheres, wire gauge size, insulating
materials and epoxy composition.
2. Junction
Tip Style: Tip Styles: The application dictates the
choice. e.g. Fast response time = Exposed Tip. (G)- TC measuring junction is one
with the sheath so they have the same electrical potential. (U) – TC measuring
junction is insulated from the sheath to eliminate outside electrical interference.
Type:
3. Element Type
Select One: Up to three separate thermocouples in a single sheath.
Separate ungrounded junctions can be wired to different instruments.
4. Sheath Material
Select One: The application dictates the choice of sheath
materials. 304SS and 316SS are most commonly used but temperatures and corrosive
conditions can necessitate the use of other materials.
5. Sheath Diameter
Select One: The Mineral Insulated thermocouples come in a number of
sizes but the choice is greatly influenced by the maximum temperature of the
application. For high temp applications bigger is better.
6. Sheath Length “L”
Enter Inches: Although the accuracy of the thermocouple is not
affected by the length of the sheath, consult the factory when the probe length
exceeds 120 inches.

7. Strip Length “A”
Enter Inches: Length of stripped portion of lead wire.

8. Fittings
Select Type: Fittings of all thread sizes, materials, and
designs are available for most applications.
Select NPT (For Compression/Fix Bushing only):

9. Fitting Location “F”
Enter inches from tip (“N” for None): Measured from the first thread to the tip of the sheath.

10. Special Options

11. Bend Angle
Select One: Mineral insulated thermocouples should not be bent on a
radius smaller than twice the outside sheath diameter.

12. Bend Location “C”
Enter inches from tip (“N” for None): There are minimum bend locations for all Mineral Insulated
sensors – dependent on sheath diameter.
